Ah, let me tell you about the most underrated beach in all of Jervis Bay, it’s a hidden gem that I absolutely adore and think you should definitely carve out time to visit. This beach is a bit of a challenge to reach compared to the other beaches in the area, which makes it an even more serene escape. To get there, you’ll need to take a 1.4-kilometer walk from the Summercloud Bay Boat Ramp, where you can park your car. Follow the Black Harbour Track, it’s an easy walk with just a few gentle hills. Along the way, you’ll find some gaps in the trees that offer stunning views of the beach below, perfect for snapping a few photos.
Once you make it to the water’s edge, I suggest finding a nice spot along the rocks. Navigating the walk down to the sand can be a bit tricky, involving some challenging maneuvers. I did it and when I finally reached the sand, it wasn’t as pristine as I hoped, it had a bit of an old seaweed smell. So, sticking to the rocks is a good bet.
But once you set up along the rocks, you'll be so happy. The water is a vibrant green and incredibly inviting. Swimming here is lovely, and you can even have a bit of fun by jumping in off the rocks. I spent about four hours enjoying this spot and didn’t see a single other soul, not on the beach, the trail, or even in the car park. It really felt like my own private beach.
A few days later, a local I chatted with recommended this very spot. He said he visits on his boat and hardly ever sees anyone, so it really is a well-kept secret. If you’re up for a bit more adventure, you can continue on the trail to reach Black Harbour or Kitties Beach, just make sure to pack plenty of water and supplies. I hope you fall in love with this spot just as much as I did. Enjoy your secluded escape! x
