Aldeia da Mata Pequena ("Mata Pequena village") is essentially a small street (Rua São Francisco de Assis), just 30 minutes away from Lisbon by car, which preserves architectonic features of a typical Saloio settlement. Saloio stands for any town located in the outskirts of Lisbon, north of the Tagus river. Aldeia da Mata Pequena seems to be stuck in the past, but in a good way.
It is composed of around 12 houses distributed in both sides of the street. Most of them serve today as lodging facilities, dedicated to rural tourism, so you'll probably find them on Booking.com or Airbnb. Aldeia da Mata Pequena is home to approximately 70 proud residents.
This village is surrounded by dense forestation, making this a perfect place to reconnect with nature, recharge batteries and relax. Aldeia da Mata Pequena is far enough from the big city to anyone willing to rest and close enough to the urban center to get back there quite quickly.
For some people, Aldeia da Mata Pequena looks like a film set, with so many beautiful details and picturesque appearance. It is really worth the visit!
