Right next to the vibrant Cais do Sodré area is the Ascensor / Elevador da Bica ("Bica Funicular" or "Bica Lift"), a pair of cars ascending and descending simultaneously, connecting Rua de São Paulo ("Saint Paul Street") to Rua do Loreto ("Loreto Street"), up in the hill. Lines can be huge depending on the time of the day, so try to prioritize the early hours in the morning or late hours in the afternoon.

This very traditional transport system is over 130 years old and is an amazing way to access the Miradouro de Santa Catarina / Adamastor ("Saint Catherine / Adamastor viewpoint"). This would be our recommended next step!
