Igreja e Convento da Graça ("Graça church and convent") is a Christian complex located in São Vicente, right next to the Graça viewpoint, one of Lisbon's highest points. This is one of the oldest convents in city, founded in 1271.

In the previous century, in the year 1147, this is where Dom Afonso Henriques, Portugal's first king, set up camp with its troops in the context of the siege of Lisbon, when the Muslims were expelled from this part of the territory.

This a great place to contemplate traditional Portuguese tiles as well as observe architectural features of a monument that ended up being restored and reconstructed over the centuries, with styles ranging from late Baroque, Manueline and Mannerism.

Make sure you also visit the Graça garden and bandstand, which are just a few footsteps away from the church and convent.
