Praça Marquês de Pombal ("Marquis of Pombal Square") is one of Lisbon's main roundabouts, connecting the downtown area, known as Baixa, to the Northern zone of the city. It is situated just between Avenida da Liberdade ("Avenue of Liberty") and Parque Eduardo VII ("Eduardo VII Park").

This place pays homage to the Marquis of Pombal, Portugal's prime-minister of the late 18th century, responsible for reconstructing Lisbon and the entire country after the 1755 earthquake.

This is also the historical meeting point for fans whenever a football (soccer) club from Lisbon, either Benfica or Sporting, wins a new trophy!
