If you're a VIC local bathing boxes are probably not very fascinating to you, but as a Queenslander, the idea of locals owning tiny wooden huts that you can customize with paint is so cool. These boxes are located on Dendy Street Beach and are an iconic tourist destination to stroll along the beach and admire the unique colour art on each bathing box. There are 93 vibrant, retro beach boxes, on this beach each with its own quirky design and a splash of color that makes for epic photos.

These little gems date back to the 1860s when they were all about giving beachgoers some privacy. Each box has its own Victorian charm with corrugated iron roofs and a personality that’ll make you want to snap a pic at every turn. They’ve had their share of battles with erosion, but local efforts keep these historic beauties in tip-top shape. If you're cruising through Melbourne, a stop here for a splash of color is totally worth it!
