After a long time closed for requalification works, Jardim da Praça do Império reopened to the public in February 2023, boasting its classic fountain, as well as new coats of arms of 30 district capitals of Portugal and former overseas provinces, carved into Portuguese pavement stone. The whole renovation project seems to have made the space wider and more airy, while preserving the spirit of homage of the country's colonial past.
This is a perfect spot for you to sit back, relax and enjoy the view in between the visits to the most iconic monuments and attractions of Belém, namely, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos ("Jerónimos Monastery"), Padrão dos Descobrimentos ("Monument of the Discoveries"), Torre de Belém ("Belém Tower"), MAAT, Lisbon's Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology and, of course, Pastéis de Belém.
