The Cape Schanck Lighthouse, down at the southern tip of the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, is a cool spot to check out. If you’re a bit over lighthouses by this point (I definitely was by the end of my trip, haha), you’ll still want to stop here because it’s right next to the Cape Schanck boardwalk, one of the most beautiful spots in the state.

Built in 1859, this 21-meter tall lighthouse has a striking limestone tower and a powerful Fresnel lens that beams out 26 nautical miles. I just took a walk up, spotted an echidna (so keep an eye out for wildlife!), and enjoyed the views from a distance. But if you’re up for more, you can do a tour that takes you through the museum and the old lighthouse keeper’s residences for $14.50 per adult. It’s a great way to dive into the maritime history of the area!
