While driving along the Nullarbor Plain, don’t miss the chance to stop at the Bunda Cliffs. These sheer, dramatic cliffs are one of the highlights of the Great Australian Bight. Stretching for over 100 kilometers, the Bunda Cliffs offer breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the Southern Ocean, with drops plunging hundreds of meters into the sea below. It’s the perfect spot for jaw-dropping photos and to soak in the sheer scale of Australia’s coastal beauty.

To view these cliffs, there are several dirt roads leading to them as you drive along the highway. Just be cautious when pulling up, as you’re right at the edge of the cliff, give yourself a safe distance. As you approach, you’ll be greeted by a landscape that feels both rugged and serene. The cliffs are made of ancient limestone, sculpted over millennia into striking formations by the elements. There are various lookout points along the way, each offering a unique perspective of the dramatic drop and expansive ocean views.

Make sure to take your time and enjoy the stunning scenery, the vastness of the cliffs and the ocean is something you won’t soon forget. Be careful around the edges and keep an eye on the weather, as it can change rapidly. To soak it all in I’d recommend staying overnight at one of the many free campsites near the cliffs. Check out WikiCamps for your perfect spot, all are free, and watching the sunset or sunrise here would be a dream.
