Lijiang Old Town, also known as Dayan Old Town, is a charming UNESCO World Heritage Site in Yunnan, China.
About Lijiang
In many ways, Lijiang is the gateway to Yunnan's mountain ranges but it is well worth a visit.
The old town is a busy cobbled street designed to recreate a lot of the historic old buildings that used to be there dynasties ago - making it a great place to wander around and get lost i the town's alleyways.
If you're aiming for photography, I recommend getting up before sunrise and wandering around - the town takes on an eery emptiness which adds to the mystique.
Top things not to miss in Lijiang:
Lion hill and mufu palace.
Getting to Lijiang:
Lijiang has a high speed rail station and an airport, making it an easy trip from across China.
Staying in Lijiang
I'd recommend staying in the old town itself. Check on trip.com and you'll find plenty of guesthouses at a range of budgets. My suggestion? find one on the hill with a rooftop - it becomes the best place to catch sunset overlooking the snow mountain.
