A massive Buddha statue on a mountaintop, surrounded by great views.

About Tian Tan Buddha

The Big Buddha statue is a 34m statue of Siddhartha completed in 1993 and has become one of the city's big tourist attractions.

Getting to Tian Tan Buddha

There are a few options on getting to the Big Buddha:

  • Cable Car: At Tung Chung you can grab the cablecar all the way up the mountain

  • MTR + Bus: (the more budget-friendly option) You can take the MTR to Tung Chung station and then grab the Lantau 23 bus to Ngong Ping - the ite of the Buddha statue.
