Cable Beach in Broome is one of Australia’s top spots for catching an epic sunset over the ocean's horizon. Trust me, when I visited, it totally lived up to the hype. This beach stretches for a glorious 22 km of white sand and stunning turquoise water. As someone who's always been an East Coast beach bum, watching the sun set over the water instead of rise was a real treat.

Now, if you're coming from the NT and the Top End of Aus as I did, you might find it a bit weird to see people actually swimming here. After months of dodging Crocs up north and staying very far from the water's edge, it was a bit of a culture shock! But hey, Broome keeps it safe, just be sure to stick to the patrolled areas like Cable Beach.

This place holds so many special memories for me. That first dip in the ocean after months felt like a homecoming and those sunsets? Pure magic. Cable Beach isn't just about the sunsets, though. It's got these incredible low cliffs, mellow waves, and these red-ochre dunes that make the whole scene pop. Locals and tourists flock here all day long for good reason.

At the car park, you will find a chill grassy spot overlooking the beach where I laid out a blanket, soaked up the sun, and took in those killer sunsets. Oh, and did I mention the camel rides? You can hop on one for sunrise or sunset or take an iconic photo of the beach with orange and pink skies and camels strolling by.

For the bold ones among us, there's even a section of the beach where you can drive your wheels right onto the sand. Personally, I played it safe with my 2WD, but I saw all sorts of vehicles out there having a blast.

So, whether you're chilling with a sunset picnic, riding camels at dusk, or just kicking back and soaking in the laid-back vibes of the Indian Ocean, Cable Beach is where it's at. It's an Aussie beach experience you won't want to miss.
